Learning Spanish
Just finished my first year of learning Spanish, what a blast…
Thanks to Ben and Judy who’ve lasted the year with me and Isabel who’s had the hard job of teaching us at the Institute of Applied Language Studies at Edinburgh University.
So, after one year of learning Spanish, this is what I’ve learnt:
- It’s much easier when it’s fun
- It’s much easier when you do your homework
- Coffee Break Spanish is a great podcast for using alongside a class to reinforce the aural side of it, especially if you find listening/talking much harder than reading/writing like me
- "Sueños World Spanish" is a great TV series which gives you some basic Spanish and also shows you something about where Spanish is spoken around the world. In the UK, this is broadcast once in a while as a series in the middle of the night as part of the BBC Learning Zone. They’re also advertising 2 other series - "Talk Spanish" and "Eurografters"
- The "Practice Makes Perfect" series is good for more exercises to drum it all into your brain:
- A reference book for all the irregular verbs is really useful
- And this is the book for next year’s course - Aula Internacional 1 Libro del alumno
, so I’d better start reading it now!
